The Town of Amherst receives over $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds from the federal government to support social service agencies which help improve the lives of low and moderate income residents and for larger infrastructure and development projects, such as sidewalks, trails, pre-development costs for affordable housing, and repairs and rehab for affordable housing. The CDBG Advisory Committee is charged with overseeing the public process to hear from residents and providers to identify service priorities and target area, reviewing applications and make recommendations for funding allocations, and reviewing the implementation of the grant projects.

    The Town of Amherst's Community Development Block Grant Committee, known as the CDBG Advisory Committee, is charged with overseeing the public process to identify social service priorities and targets areas for Community Development Block Grant funds received annually from the Federal Government. The Committee would like to hear from Amherst residents, employees, and service providers about the most pressing and urgent needs for low and moderate income residents. Please fill out the survey below to help us identify, rank, and evaluate the service priorities, infrastructure projects, and target areas. Thank you for your time!
