The Town of Amherst receives over $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds from the federal government to support social service agencies which help improve the lives of low and moderate income residents and for larger infrastructure and development projects, such as sidewalks, trails, pre-development costs for affordable housing, and repairs and rehab for affordable housing. The CDBG Advisory Committee is charged with overseeing the public process to hear from residents and providers to identify service priorities and target area, reviewing applications and make recommendations for funding allocations, and reviewing the implementation of the grant projects.
